Bunsom's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy cassava, fertilizers, and to pay for labour.

Bunsom's story

Bunsom is a married local woman living with her husband in a Khmer community in Surin Province in Northeast Thailand. Generally, Bunsom and her husband grow cassava for sale to make a living and they also weave silk cloth for selling as their secondary job.

During this time, she sought a loan to improve her occupation because she wanted to expand her business and to grow more cassava for selling. She also needed to generate sufficient income for spending on her family. Therefore, she applied for a Kiva loan to buy more cassava plants, fertilizers, and to pay for labour for plowing.

The loan will offer her an opportunity to afford good quality cassava and sufficient equipment for her occupation as well as to support her as a local woman entrepreneur.

In the future, she wants to sell cassava to factories and to generate sufficient income for her family.
