A loan helped to buy silk thread, dye colors, and materials for weaving silk cloth.

Daeng's story

Daeng is a local woman living with her brother in a Khmer community in Surin Province in Northeast Thailand. Her family basically does a jasmine rice farm to make a living and they weave silk cloth to sell as their secondary job.

Her parents have been weaving silk cloth to generate income for spending on their family for over 40 years. Regarding weaving silk cloth, Daeng was inspired and learned from her parents.

She desires to increase sales of her family's products and meet market requirements. Therefore, she sought a loan to improve her business and then applied for the Kiva loan to buy more dye colors, silk thread, and materials for weaving silk cloth.

The loan is very important to Daeng. This will allow her to be able to afford silk weaving materials and also support her as a woman local entrepreneur. In the future, she has planned to own a small shop selling silk products in her village. Moreover, she also desires to have a better quality of life and the warmest family.
