A loan helped to buy mulberry for her tapa-making business.

Salote's story

"Love what you do, and do what you love," says Salote, 62-year-old mother of eight and grandmother of nine. She's married to a farmer. Four of their children have families of their own. Salote and her husband live with the other four unmarried children in their own home. One child is still in school.

Salote is the primary family breadwinner. Her husband and the unmarried children help run her tapa-making business, which she really loves. She gives almost all her hours of the day softening the mulberry and sticking them together to create a big ngatu. She decorates it in a unique way and sells it. She's committed to making three ngatu a month.

Now her ngatu are attracting buyers. The resources she has are insufficient to meet the demand. This loan will help Salote buy soft mulberry to produce more and meet customer demand.
