Miki's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped a female-owned business pay for an electrical upgrade for new equipment.

Miki's story

My husband Nick is a third-generation cattle rancher from Waimea, Hawaii. We are homesteaders and farmers. We wholeheartedly believe that Hawaii can be sustainable and we would like to see more beef being able to stay on the island. We live a homesteading lifestyle. We not only raise beef cattle but also garden and raise many other small animals (pigs, rabbits, chickens, goats, sheep, turkeys, and ducks) for our own freezer. While raising and processing food for our own family we saw an opportunity to not only feed our extended family (pets) a much more nutritious diet but also an outlet to waste less and utilize animals that no longer served a purpose for our ranching operations. We absolutely love our dogs and wanted to feed them as well as we feed ourselves. We also needed an outlet for mature cows that no longer served a purpose for our ranch but were unable to secure bookings at any slaughterhouse. We began processing our own animals for our home consumption and hated wasting the parts that we personally wouldn't consume. We also are able to support other small and trusted ranches and farms by buying animals that they also no longer served as a purpose for their own ranch.
