Mele's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to plough their plantation and also pay for exporting their crops overseas.

Mele's story

Meet Mele! She is a 65-year-old mother of six children and ten grandchildren. She married a farmer and they live in their own home. She is now living with her two unmarried children and one married son. They are six altogether under the same roof.

Mele's children help them in running their plantation business. They tend to grow different type of crops such as taro, sweet potatoes, yams, cassava and vegetables. They market the crops locally and mainly send containers overseas, due to the high demand for Tongan crops from overseas.

Mele and her family do not have enough harvesting machines to help them in harvesting their crops. Mele also hopes having this loan will help them with ploughing another acre of land to keep growing crops while other crops are harvested. She has a dream of building a house for the other two sons remaining with her.
