Mele'ana's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to hire women to weave for her and also helps with the processing of her raw pandanus.

Mele'ana's story

Mele'ana is 43 years of age and the mother of two children. She is married to a farmer husband and they lived in their own home. Her two children are still in high school.

Mele'ana is currently running a weaving business. Her skills and experience in weaving attracted many customers to the product she weaves. She can weave many different types of Tongan crafts and decorates them in very unique Tongan styles, which attracted more buyers. In her current business, with the help of her husband, she can only weave two Tongan kie (long mats about 30 meters long and seven meters wide) a month.

She is the breadwinner for her family. She has run this business for many years and become very competitive in the market. Due to the high demand for the kie she weaves, now she is facing a challenge: more buyers in the market. She is unable to finish kie on time for her buyers. She is planning with this loan to pay more laborers to help her in weaving to overcome her challenge.

Mele'ana has a vision of renovating her house to become prettier.
