Savoeun's story

Savoeun is a 32-year-old experienced farmer from the Preah Sdach District of Prey Veng Province. He lives with his spouse and children, who completely depend on his income and attend school. He is engaged in growing rice and raising some poultry at home to cover his family's needs. He has knowledge of growing rice such as land preparation, cultivation and growth of rice, and knows about fertilizer, diseases on rice and other agriculture tasks. Savoeun and his spouse help each other earn household income so that they can provide food, medicines, education, and basic living needs.

Because of a shortage in his finances, he has applied for a loan of USD 2,000 to pay for ground filler to cover the mud around his house. With this loan support, he can pay for the ground filling and provide his family members with a good environment and fresh air, protecting them from illness and creating good living conditions. He also will use the remaining funds to build a household latrine for members' usage.

In the future, he aims to renovate his old house and push his children to continue studying at university. He believes that through his hard work and perseverance he will be able to attain a better standard of living someday.
