Safrana's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farming tools, pesticides, fertilizers, etc.

Safrana's story

COVID-19 is a reminder to many Fijians of the need to remain food secure. Normally, they're reminded of challenges of a cyclone or natural disaster before it hits, but COVID-19 has elevated this goal 10 times. Now, many have turned to subsistence farming to secure their daily needs.

For Safrana, root crops and vegetables grow well in the rich volcanic soils around her home. She and her husband work side-by-side each day to ensure their harvests will be successful. But even good soils need to be enriched with fertilizers and plants kept pest-free with chemicals.

She'll use a loan to buy farming tools, pesticides and fertilizers to guarantee a good yield from their crops. Safrana is sure this loan will assist with their much-needed daily living by selling quality, fresh crops in the market.
