Las Victorias Tanil Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy more clothing to resell.

Las Victorias Tanil Group's story

There are numerous street vendors throughout the towns of Guatemala who sell everything from nuts to clothing and more. Evelin, a 26 year old married mother of a 5 year old daughter, sells clothing for men, women and children in a town in the department/state of San Marcos. Her husband is a teacher working in a local school. With her 1st KIVA loan, Evelin can buy a variety of clothing that will appeal to her customers. She will earmark some of her income for the education of her daughter. Evelin understands the tremendous importance of education because she was only able to attend school for 3 years. Evelin has joined 6 other women to participate in the Friendship Bridge “Microcredit Plus” program of loans, educational training and health care services. This program is tremendously useful for them because they have access to basic health care services every two months. And each month, at their meetings, a Facilitator shares relevant and useful information with them about every day topics like nutrition, hygiene, health, prioritizing expenses and how to manage their businesses best (tortilla shops, clothing sales, raising poultry). Since they have little or no formal education, the Facilitator uses pictures, diagrams, role playing and games to share the information. KIVA investors who lend a helping hand, are tremendously appreciated by Evelin and her friends. Thank you!
