Dolores Monserrate's story

Dolores Monserrate, age 61, is a widow with two children who are adult and independent. She lives in a rented house in Portoviejo, a city affected by the earthquake of April 16, 2016 and now by the Covid-19 pandemic. The city is rich in production of vegetables, legumes, and tropical fruit for domestic consumption.

In her house, Dolores Monserrate has a grocery store. She sells all types of products such as rice, sugar, oil, detergent, legumes, vegetables, and fruit. She works every day. She also sells containers of purified water that sometimes are ordered by homes.

Social isolation at first left her without work due to fear of contagion and various restrictions that kept her from selling. Now she is following bio-security protocols.

This loan is to buy flour, tuna, pasta, biscuits, snacks, dairy products, etc. Her dream is to have a much larger business and that her family will have good health.
