A loan helped to purchase modern farm inputs such as hybrid seeds and organic fertilizers to improve her farming.

Esther's story

Esther is an ever-smiling woman from Maua, in the Mount Kenya region of Kenya. She is a widow, 48 years old, and a mother to ten children, three of whom are still in school.

She decided it was time to wake up from her slumber and do something to empower herself as a smallholder farmer and mother. She is an inspirational female farmer who has been practicing farming for the last 15 years.

Her primary sources of income are milk, eggs, and horticultural produce. Esther's biggest challenges are crop disease and a shortage of farm inputs.

Farmers in the area lack capital to purchase farm inputs such as chemicals to prevent these diseases. Esther decided to join Juhudi Kilimo to access loans that would help her improve her farming activities. She will use the loan to purchase organic fertilizers, hybrid seeds. and pesticides to improve her farming. She will use the income to pay back the loan, educate her children, and save to secure her future as a widow.

Kindly lend to her!
