Makongo Kk Group's story

Janeth D., aged 35, is married with two sons, 14 and 10. She has been selling vitenge (fabrics) for 5 years. She works from 9 am to 1 pm and she is able to make a monthly profit of about $33. This will be Janeth’s fourth loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She used the previous loans to buy ulezi (brown wheat) to make porridge and started selling vitenge. She sells from door to door and is really doing fine and has managed to pay back the loans successfully. She hopes for a new loan to buy vitenge and bed sheets. Janeth’s dream is to buy a car and transport her products to more customers Janeth will share this loan with her loan group, Makongo KK, which totals 16 members. The members of the group will hold each other accountable in paying back the loan. In the picture Janeth is wearing a kitenge in the front row.
