Lorenzo's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to plant corn and sweet potato, providing opportunities to young adults in rural Panama.

Lorenzo's story

Meet Mr. Lorenzo! He is a community leader and entrepreneur in his community of Santa Librada, East Panama.

Lorenzo is a hardworking individual with 30 years of experience in corn, cocoyam and sweet potato farming. Over the course of the last year, he has grown his family business remarkably with the resources at hand. Lorenzo has inspired not only his three children but also a generation of young Panamanian farmers to cultivate organic products and make a living sustainably through farming.

Lorenzo is asking for his first Kiva loan to buy seeds and equipment to boost corn and sweet potato production and distribution in his region, bringing employment and entrepreneurship opportunities to younger generations. Currently, he is in the process of gathering enough seeds to expand his farm to meet the demand for his product which has increased in the last couple of months.

Thank you for contributing to the economic development of rural areas that have been historically excluded from basic financial services.
