Hellen's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farming inputs, such as certified seeds and hybrid fertilizers, to optimize her production and increase her income in order to support her family.

Hellen's story

Food production plays a major role in the economic growth of Kenya, through poverty reduction and creation of employment. For this reason, there is a need to invest in smallholder farmers such as 27-year-old Hellen (pictured above), since they play a major role in transforming the economy.

Hellen’s determination to persist without giving up hope is her major weapon in fighting poverty. She works hard to meet the demands of her small family, including her child, as well as her farm's requirements. Hellen, a humble woman, has been working on her farm for many years. Through farming, Hellen is able to meet the basic needs of her family.

Hellen is seeking a loan to buy farm inputs, such as certified seeds and nutrient-rich fertilizers, to improve the quality of her farm produce and increase her income. Most microfinance lenders in Kenya have imposed very complicated procedures in funds acquisition, thereby discouraging smallholder farmers. However, Juhudi Kilimo is working closely with Kiva to make loan acquisition for smallholder farmers easy and convenient. Through this intervention, the movement of funds in the rural communities has increased, thereby alleviating rural poverty.

Support a hardworking woman to achieve her dreams today.
