Jessenia's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase equipment, expansion of my business, and create new jobs.

Jessenia's story

I grew up in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico and am the oldest of two sisters. My mother was a perfect example of how a single mother raises a daughter to be a strong independent woman. She has always inspired me to do better. I am a single mother with two daughters, thirteen (13) and seventeen (17) year-olds, that are the reason I decided to open my new business. I began studying criminal justice with the finality to become a lawyer. Nonetheless, in my second year of University, after working part-time in beauty salons, I decided that I wanted to pursue a hairdressing career, an image consultant, and an all-around beauty expert. For the last seventeen (17) years I have worked in the most prestigious beauty salons and spas in Puerto Rico. It has been my dream to own my salon, but it was until now that I was able to pursue my dream, build a budget, create a corporation, and rent a place to create my business. In my years of working in salons, I have always wanted to learn the latest techniques, continue studying, and taking additional certifications to maintain currency in the beauty industry. I have an ample list of clients that have followed me from beauty salon to beauty salon. Some of them are even helping me in the process of all the legal, organizational and financial help to get my business up and running despite COVID. I come from a humble upbringing, am a very hard-working woman, and am extremely self-motivated to have my own salon.
