A loan helped to purchase clothes with new designs.

Los Cocos Group's story

Many women find clothing sales to be a profitable business that helps them to earn an income and improve their level of living. For Ahide, who is 28 years old, this business has been a support for more than 5 years. She only studied up to the first grade and made a living by helping with household chores. Ahide now has her own home and raises two children ages 9 and 6. She is requesting this first Kiva loan to purchase more clothing with new designs.

12 women are members of Puente de Amistad "Los Cocos" communal bank. They live in the department/state of San Marcos. They sell food, shoes, and clothing. They tend to meet monthly to make payments and receive educational training. A facilitator informed them of the importance of offering new products, maintaining good hygiene, and managing their business better. Like Ahide, the women enjoy these benefits in program "Microcrédito Plus" from Puente de Amistad (loans, education, health).

Kiva lenders are a fundamental support for women like Ahide.
