Manantial Pacacja Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy a large quantity of thread.

Manantial Pacacja Group's story

Ana is a 32-year-old married mother of 3 children who range in age from 3 months to 7 years of age. She has no formal education. Her husband sells clothing. Seven years ago, Ana began embroidering traditional blouses or “huipiles”. She learned how to do this when she was 13 years old. Now, Ana has 9 employees who are able to help support their own families. Ana is able to deliver 2 dozen “huipiles” each week to markets in Totonicapan, San Francisco El Alto and Salcaja. With her 2nd Kiva loan, Ana can resupply her employees with more thread.

Ana has joined 9 other Maya K’iche ladies to participate in the “Microcredit Plus” program of Friendship Bridge. The women have traditional textile and flower businesses. The monthly interactive educational training sessions, a critical component of the program, gives them essential information about themselves, their families, health and business. Since they have little or no formal education, these sessions are of great value. Every 2 months, Ana and her friends have access to basic health care services delivered by a visiting nurse who offers exams and consults. They also have access to family planning. This is another critical component of the program as the public health care system in Guatemala is chronically underfunded.

Thank you Kiva investors for extending a helping hand to Ana and her friends!
