Fuente De Amistad Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy sandals and colorful traditional clothing to resell.

Fuente De Amistad Group's story

Blanca, a 31-year-old married mother of 2 children (4 and 10), has a 6th grade education. Her husband works varnishing furniture in a factory. Blanca sells ornate aprons and shoes as a street vendor. She also sews and decorates aprons, part of the colorful traditional clothing in her area. With a Kiva loan, Blanca can buy sandals and more traditional clothing to resell. She has earmarked some of her income for the continuing education of her children.

As the Treasurer of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Fuente de Amistad” or “Fountain of Friendship”, Blanca must keep accurate accounting of all loan payments. There are 6 other women in the group who live in the department/state of Sacatepequez. This is the 3rd loan cycle for these ladies who invest in the businesses selling flowers, fruit, traditional clothing, shoes, and tortillas. They look forward to their monthly meetings when a Facilitator uses pictures, diagrams, role playing, and games to share information drawn from 4 areas: business, family, women, health. Often, they share what they learn with family and friends. Every other month, they have access to basic health care services like blood pressure and blood sugar checks, breast exams, PAP smears and more.

Thank you, Kiva investors, for lending a helping hand to Blana and her friends!
