A loan helped a woman restaurant owner expand her business.

Jaclyn's story

Hello, I am Jaclyn the owner of Jacklyn’s Kitchen in Rogers, Arkansas. I grew up in Texas where my grandparents owned an Italian restaurant for 36 years where I grew up from age six onward. My mother who was a single mom would drop me off there often while she worked. The restaurant chef Max would feed me to keep me busy while I watched him cook, my grandmother Virginia had a charisma that would woo the entire room and the power to command the whole place. My grandpa Delbert could always talk to any customer about anything and his laugh was contagious. So from a young age, I always wanted to own a restaurant like them. When we moved to Northwest Arkansas (NWA), it was still small, and I worked everywhere from lots of restaurants for our big Wal-Mart corporate, but the restaurant world was “my people”. I’ve now been a server for 14 years here in NWA and had ups and downs in places, and that lead me to know I wanted to and needed to own my own place. I’ve worked 100 hours weeks since I was 17, and I hope to build a legacy for my daughter to hopefully take over someday. NWA has over 500,000 residents now, our economy is strong and supports locally-owned businesses very well so this is a great place and time to expand my restaurant.
