Libia Esther's story
Libia Carrillos O. lives with her husband and three children, ranging in ages from 11 to 17, in the Los Nogales neighborhood of Bogotá. There she runs her business where she makes undergarments for ladies, gentlemen, and children. She began six years ago, continuing the family tradition. She learned this art from her mother with no trouble and this is one of her talents. Libia is a woman with many dreams and a desire to move ahead. This is why her goal is to improve the quality of her products, especially the finishing touches. Because she doesn’t have a specialized sewing machine, it delays her production times and she must resort to other means so that her products have excellent finishing touches. She would like to buy a collar machine, so she is asking for a Kiva loan through, “Fundación Mario Santo Domingo.” Her greatest desire is to give her family the well being that they deserve. This is why she works, day by day, minute by minute, so that she can meet this goal at all times.
