A loan helped to buy fertilizer for cultivating corn and cassava.

Nua Ngam 34 Group's story

Hiep, age 30, is a Thai ethnic woman who is married and a mother of two small children, a son and a daughter. She lives with her family in a small temporary house in a remote village in northwest Vietnam.

Her family relies on agriculture to earn a living. They engage in various activities such as cultivating rice, cassava, and corn and raising pigs and chickens. This is the third time that Hiep has received a loan from the Anh Chi Em program. She will use the loan to buy fertilizer for cultivating corn and cassava. Hiep hopes to reap a good harvest and earn a good income so that she can renovate her house and pay school fees for her children. She dreams that her children will enter a good college, find good jobs, and have a bright future.

In the photo, Hiep is sitting on the far right and has the traditional hairstyle of married Thai women. To ensure safety for everyone due to the complicated COVID-19 situation, the group members are wearing masks and keeping their distance in the photo.
