Welina's story

Welina B. is from the town of Trento. She is 41 years old. Welina is married and has four school-aged children. To make a living, Welina raises crops. The main source of income for the business comes from planting and harvesting rice for sale. Welina has been engaged in her business for over 10 years. Now, she also owns and manages a sari-sari (variety) store, where she sells vinegar, shampoo and other kinds of products. Welina joined CEVI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Welina has successfully repaid a previous loan from CEVI. Welina is requesting a new loan of 6,000 Philippine pesos (PHP), which will be used to purchase fertilizers, such as manure, and additional store inventory. This will be the second loan taken out by Welina from CEVI. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to pay the tuition fees of her children.
