A loan helped to pay construction costs for building her new house.

Lavinia's story

Lavinia is 32 years old, married to a farmer and has seven children. Together, they live in their own home, which is a two bedroom house.

Lavinia owns and operates a weaving and soft tapas business. Her husband is her primary helper and number one supporter because he realizes that it is Lavinia's businesses that make an income for their family. He grows pandanus and mulberry for Lavinia's business and helps with preparing the soft tapas and pandanus. Lavinia spends time weaving every day and beats the hard mulberry, making it soft for selling. She weaves taovala and mats, using white pandanus only.

Lavinia sells her weaving mainly to relatives overseas and her soft tapas at the market place. Last year she exported ten mats and taovala and earned enough to start building a new and bigger house for her family. She has also applied for this loan to help with construction costs.

Lavinia's only dream is to build a financially secure future for her children.
