Ahmed's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to add a variety of food items to his store.

Ahmed's story

Ahmed is a skilled and seasoned refugee entrepreneur from Somalia who owns and runs a grocery store at the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya. He is married with eight children and currently supports his family with the store’s proceeds.

Ahmed’s business experience spans over ten years and he has gained a considerable understanding of the business environment within Kakuma. He has built himself a niche and currently serves a huge number of both refugee and host community clients on cash and credit basis.

With the initial loan from AEC, Ahmed was able to restock his shop with a variety of food and cereal items. He largely attributes his continued business growth to his previous loan and is seeking a subsequent loan to further add a variety of food items to his store. This will enable him to keep sufficiently providing the community with more consumption options while at the same time expanding his business reach.
