Las Rosas De Chicaman Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy traditional blouses, rhinestones and lace.

Las Rosas De Chicaman Group's story

Traditional Guatemalan outfits, that consist of a blouse (huipil), skirt (corte), belt (faja) and apron (delantal) are colorful and highly prized by the women who wear them!

Josefina, a 24 year old single mother, learned to sew 7 years ago when she opened her business. Now, she is able to deliver huipiles, cortes and delantales each month. She fills her orders on time because she has a trusty employee who assists her.

Although Josefina only has 6 years of formal education, she is determined that her 2 children (2,4) have a higher standard of living including their education. She is requesting her 3rd KIVA loan to buy huipiles, lace, and rhinestones. Josefina wants to offer her customers the latest designs.

Josefina is a member of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Las Rosas De Chicaman Group” in a rural area in the department/state of Quiche. They look forward to their monthly meetings and appreciate their educational training, designed by a facilitator. Topics about health, business, women’s issues and family matters are taught in an interactive way making it fun and interesting for the women. Pictures, games, role playing and diagrams are used. Every two months, they have access to basic health care services. Microcredit Plus is the name of the program that combines loans, educational training, health care services and other advanced training.

Thank you, Kiva investors, for learning about Josefina and her friends and for funding their loans!
