Juana is a 55-year-old mother who is married with a beautiful family of five children between the ages of 15 and 30. She lives with her family in a community that is part of the village of Pacanal II, in Suchitepéquez, Guatemala. In order to generate income and improve her living conditions, she works in the production and sale of Mashan leaves (hojas de maxan), which are natural wraps used for making tamales. She has been working in this field for more than 20 years. She sells her product at the city market in her community. Juan wants to continue growing her business, and is asking for a loan in order to invest in purchasing more Mashan leaves in order to better satisfy her customers.
