Hussein's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase additional stock for the grocery shop.

Hussein's story

Hussein is a skilled Somali refugee entrepreneur currently running a food store business within one of the locations at the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya.

He is married with 10 children and is highly motivated to grow his business, as this provides the family with the sole source of income.

The store currently employs two staff, and the number of casual staff increases based on seasonality and sales.

Hussein is well-known within the camp and beyond, as he supplies to most of the smaller food and grocery stores within the area.

With the two loans he received from AEC, Hussein has shown some significant improvements in his business in terms of assets acquisition, as he has acquired a solar system and added a fridge to store refreshments.

He is seeking a third loan to further restock the store with foodstuff and cereals.

He is hopeful of the business growth and is looking forward to creating more employment opportunities within the community.
