A loan helped to purchase pot plants for her flower garden, and retail goods to stock up her small kitchen shop and increase her income.

Kathleen's story

Kathleen lives in a rural area which is located about a 10-minute drive out of Port Vila city. Her community is large, and the main industry is agriculture and food. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, income has been earned in local business houses slowly but satisfyingly. Kathleen is 44 years of age and is married. Her husband works in New Zealand under the Recognized Seasonal Employers Scheme doing horticulture work. They have five beautiful daughters who are of ages 29, 25, 22, 19 and 15. Only her youngest is still attending college.

Kathleen has asked for a loan to help her purchase pot plants for her flower garden, and retail goods to stock up her small kitchen shop to help her business make more income. With the earned revenue, she will save up so she can purchase a piece of land to start planting kava as a means of income for her family. Kathleen started her flower business back in 2020, and it is supported by a small canteen and selling of cooked food. She dreams of improving her family's living conditions and trusts her loans will help her achieve that. South Pacific Business Development (Vanuatu) Ltd. has helped Kathleen for over a year now, and this is her second loan. She successfully repaid her first loan on time. Through her loans, Kathleen feels empowered to expand her business so she can provide the best for her family.
