Gbassay's story

Meet 40-year-old Gbassay. She is a single mother with six children, one of whom is attending school. All of her children life at home. Gbassay attended school up to sixth grade.

She is a hardworking businesswoman who sells cooked food. She learned how to sell from her mother and started the business with her own earnings. She has been managing her sales for six years now. She sells Monday through Saturday and uses a motor bike to transport supplies to her business site.

To continue her sales, Gbassay requires a loan through BRAC Liberia, a Kiva field partner. The loan will be used to buy more rive, meat, and other ingredients that will be used to prepare cooked food to sell in order to generate more profits that will enable her to pay back her loan.

She likes her business because sales are fast. Her dreams for the future are to own a store and build a house. She says thanks to the Kiva community and BRAC.
