Fernando's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy more cereals from smallholder farmers to sell in the market in order to increase his family income.

Fernando's story

Fernando is a 53-year-old Mozambican man, living in Vanduzi, Manica Province. He found in agriculture an alternative source of income in order to overcome the lack of formal work opportunities in his village. He has been running his business since he was very young.

Thanks to his activity, Fernando has been able to support other smallholder farmers by providing them with a fixed market with good prices. At the same time, Fernando is also able to address the basic needs for his family.

About a year ago, Fernando attended a financial training provided by iDE where he learned how to manage his business and record his transactions, which helped him to better understand and plan his business.

Fernando has a good network of clients that continually demand his products. In order to supply cereals to the market, Fernando is requesting his first Kiva loan to buy more cereals from smallholder farmers to sell in the market in order to increase his family income.
