Gladys Mercedes, age 44, is married and has four children. Her husband is an artisan They live in the Montecristi canton, a place which remains very affected by Covid 19.

She is a hardworking woman who seeks the means to earn income in order to help her husband to get through the difficult reality of the pandemic, which affects them too much. She works making buttons from tagua. She has a "torno" (a machine to cut tagua) with which she makes the buttons in a raw form. She delivers the product to merchants in Manta, or keeps them in her house until people come to buy them. Thus she is managing to earn something and to fight to get through this difficult reality.

She will use this loan to buy tagua.
