Nairoby's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to plant cocoyam [taro root] to provide food security and economic opportunities in rural communities.

Nairoby's story

Meet Nairoby! She is a strong leader from the community of Santa Librada, rural East Panama. Nairoby is married and lives with her 3 children.

Nairoby has been dedicated to agriculture her entire life. She has planted plantain, cassava, and avocado in the past. After trying many crops, she has decided to focus on cocoyam [taro root]. She has mastered a technique to grow a type of cocoyam that is very attractive to local buyers.

Nairoby is asking for her first Kiva loan to buy cocoyam seeds and hire young local community members to prepare the land and grow her organic cocoyam farm.

Thank you for contributing to the growth of women-owned businesses in communities that have been historically excluded from basic financial services.
