Yassin's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to increase inventory for his grocery store.

Yassin's story

Yassin is a skilled Sudanese refugee entrepreneur currently running a wholesale and retail food-store business within one of the locations at the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya. He is married, with four children, and is highly motivated to provide his family with a quality standard of life.

The store currently employs two staff, and the number of casual staff increases based on seasonality and sales. Yassin is well-known within the camp and beyond as he supplies to most of the smaller food and grocery stores within the area.

From his two initial loans with AEC, the store has recorded a 52% increase in volume of sales revenues. He is seeking a third loan to further restock the store with foodstuffs and cereals. Yassin is hopeful of the business growth and is looking forward to creating more employment opportunities within the community.
