A loan helped to buy construction supplies for the renovation of her old house.

Chantrea's story

Chantrea is a 35-year-old married woman with two children living in the Banteay Meas District, Kampot Province. She is a conscientious rice farmer who owns and manages around two hectares of farmland. She works with her spouse, earning in the vicinity of 6 USD each day. She has been doing this for almost five years. Rice farming provides all of her family’s income. She aspires to achieve financial stability and provide her children with comfortable living conditions. With her many years of experience, Chantrea is an expert in taking care of her rice crops and ensuring abundant harvests each year, except for the year of a big flood. However, the way she farms is still based on the traditional method.

At the moment, Chantrea's house is under construction and she needs more materials to finish. Due to a shortage of money, she requested a loan, which she will use to buy construction supplies for the renovation of her old house. With the loan, she can purchase construction supplies, such as bricks and cement, to remedy the lack of a roof, build a new toilet, and to pay for labor costs. She hopes that through the help of the loan she can provide everyone in her family with a suitable place to live and comfortable living conditions. She aims to purchase more land for agriculture purposes and open a small grocery store to earn additional income.
