Emprendedoras Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy more inventory for her store and firewood for her food preparation business.

Emprendedoras Group's story

Silvina is a busy 46 years old, a single mother of 2 children (13,21). Both are enrolled in school.

Silvina has a back problem but this doesn’t keep her from moving ahead. Twenty years ago, she opened a convenience store and then 5 years later, Silvina began cooking delicious meals and tamales for special events.

This is her 3rd Kiva loan cycle and Silvina would like to buy more inventory for her store, as well as firewood for her stove so she can continue to cook her delicious recipes. She wants her customers to be happy!

As a member of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank Emprendedoras Group, Silvina and 6 Maya K’iche friends participate in the Microcredit Plus program (loans, educational training, health care services) and meet monthly.

They have convenience stores like Silvina, weave traditional blouses, raise chickens and pigs, and sell catalogue products. At their meetings, they make loan payments and enthusiastically participate in educational training sessions. Topics range from effective business management practices to health, women’s issues and family matters.

Every other month, they have access to basic health care services.

From their homes in the department of Quiche, these ladies send their gratitude to Kiva investors from all parts of the world. Thank you!
