A loan helped to buy pandanus for her weaving and also help with the building of their house.

Faleiva's story

Meet Faleiva. She is a 34-year-old mother with three children. Her husband works as a farmer, and they live at Faleiva's mother's house. All her kids are schooling, so she has time for her weaving.

Right after she prepares the children and they set off every morning for school, Faleiva starts weaving until late in the evening. Her mother is her only helper. They weave together and it is a great benefit for Faleiva in running her business. Together they weave ta'ovala and mats, then sell them locally and also to relatives overseas.

She and her husband have been planning on having their own home, and they are working on that plan. They have started with their building but it is not yet finished. Faleiva applied for this amount of loan to buy pandanus for her weaving and then have the rest to help with their building. They want their children to grow up in their own place they call home.
