A loan helped to buy a motorbike for starting a new business as a food delivery driver.

Ran's story

Ran is 49 years old and lives with her dependent husband in Siem Reap Province, Cambodia. She has been working as a rice farmer since 2000. After calculating her income, she usually earns about 4 USD per day. With her earnings, she is able to provide food and other basic needs for her family.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, people such as Ran were counted among the economic victims because their incomes dramatically decreased and they had no other income-generating activities. Shops, schools, and garment factories shut down. People were ordered to stay at home or do their work from home.

In response to this nationwide crisis, Ran is requesting a Kiva loan in the amount of 1,200 USD. She will use the money to buy a motorbike for starting a new business initiative as a food delivery driver.
