Meleseini's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy pandanus for her weaving business.

Meleseini's story

Meleseini works hard weaving to earn money for her children. She is 39 years old and has five mouths to feed. Unfortunately she is a widow, as her husband passed away when their youngest child was just an infant. Meleseini and her kids live together with her mother, who helps her with caring for the kids.

Meleseini joined a group of women in the local community center who weave mats and taʻovala (a Tongan dress) using white pandanus. Meleseini sells her woven creations to her relatives overseas, and also to local customers.

She hopes to use this loan money to buy more pandanus for her weaving. Her dream is to secure a better life for her children and be able to give them a better education. Having to live without their father is hard, but Meleseini has to persevere for the good of her children.
