Vanis's story

Hello, Kiva community!

Vanis (a 32-year-old mom of 2 school-going children) is a mother from a remote village in the Makutano area of Kenya. She is a very hardworking person.

Thanks to her daily efforts, she has managed to give her lovely children a good start by providing them with a good quality education.

Vanis’s primary sources of income are crops and animal farming. She also earns some income from a personal business. She never had a formal secondary education and is content with the farming lifestyle.

The Makutano area is a favorable area for farming, so she is seeking a loan to buy farm inputs such as fertilizer to enable her to grow more crops, reap maximum profits and increase her crop business.

Being a woman and accessing funds in Kenya, especially in the Makutano area, is very challenging, but Vanis feels relieved knowing that there are institutions such as Kiva that help enterprising women like her.

Her goal is to improve her living conditions and secure the future of her children. Her biggest dreams are to be able to support her family by herself, to become independent and to buy a home.

Vanis is counting on your help and hopes for your attention.
