Sarah's story

Sarah is a 57-year-old mother who lives in Nakuru, a town that lies 1,850 meters above sea level in the highlands of Kenya, making it a temperate climate that favors coffee, wheat, barley, maize, bean, and potato farming. Sarah believes that with discipline, she is capable of attracting massive success. She feeds her family through mixed dairy and crop farming.

The COVID-19 pandemic has posed a significant threat to the economy of Kenya, causing a lot of uncertainty and disrupting food supply chains. Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, is on the front line combating this pandemic through supporting smallholder farmers and micro-entrepreneurs during this difficult period.

Sarah is seeking this loan to buy farm inputs, which she will use to improve her production and make more income to support her family during this global health crisis.
