A loan helped to invest in the bulk purchase of wood.

Gelacio's story

Gelacio is an artisan from Peru who specializes in reverse-painted glass mirrors and home decor. He would like to invest in a bulk purchase of wood.

Gelacio has been selling through NOVICA since 2003. This is his story:

"My parents worked hard to give me an education. Our daily income began to decrease and I decided to go to Lima, the capital. I found myself looking for an uncle to ask him for work. He worked as an artisan back in the 1980s, crafting coasters, mirrors, boxes and chests in reverse-painted glass, which he sold in a nearby market. So I soon found myself immersed in the world of painting. I started exhibiting it in craft fairs. I hit bottom financially and had only enough money to live from day to day. However, I held my head high. I believe that if we truly want to achieve our dreams, it is possible. All we have to do is work very hard and never lose sight of our goal."

"I will use this loan to buy wood and cover the cost of carpentry service that has increased. Additionally, I will buy paints and more utensils to prepare stock for several months."
