Irene's loan finished fundraising,

A loan helped to buy farming inputs and improve her horticulture crop farm production.

Irene's story

Irene is 43 years old and has four school-going children. She lives in Kapsowar, a town surrounded by prime agricultural lands that favor large-scale grain, dairy, and horticultural farming. She is a mixed farmer who has farmed for the past many years. Through farming, she has made her life meaningful.

She is seeking this loan to buy farming inputs and improve her horticulture crop farm production. The major impediment to the development of smallhold farms in Kenya is a lack of short-term credit facilities. Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, is working hard to support smallholder farmers in Kenya through financing, therefore guaranteeing their survival.

Irene is hopeful that all Kiva lenders are adhering to COVID-19 pandemic safety measures.
