Jacinta's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy a big truck to help her distributing tomatoes in the market.

Jacinta's story

Jacinta is a 40-year-old Mozambican woman working in agriculture for many years.

She both produces and buys crops from other smallholder farmers in order to sell in the market. Thus, she helps a large number of smallholder farmers having a fixed market and also a good price for their crops.

Jacinta's main business is tomato commercialization. She travels from village to village, looking for good varieties of this product accordingly to the market needs. With her first Kiva loan, she was able to establish a good portfolio of clients that trust in her products. While the demand for tomatoes was increasing, Jacinta started facing other challenges related to transport. Sometimes, it is difficult to establish a standard price with the transport´s owner what ended affecting her profit.

Aiming to overcome the transport challenges while delivering good crops at a good price for her clients, Jacinta is requesting a second Kiva loan to buy a big truck to help her with distributing tomatoes in the market.
