A loan helped to buy construction supplies for the renovation of her old house.

Sarun's story

Sarun, age 47, is married and has three children. She lives with her family in the area of Angkor Borei district, Takeo province. She has an occupation as a farmer and owns and manages a few hectares of farmland. She grows and plants agricultural produce and sells it to the local market in each harvesting season. Rice is the staple food of Cambodians and is their most important field crop. Rice is mainly produced during the wet season, but dry season harvests are an increasing component. Yield has increased from year to year, thanks to access to better fertilizers and other inputs. Her spouse assists her greatly with the agriculture activities.

At the moment, Sarun's house is under construction and she needs more materials to finish. Due to a shortage of money, she requested a loan, which she will use to buy construction supplies for the renovation of her old house. With the loan, she can purchase construction supplies such as bricks and cement to cover the lack of a roof, make land filling and to pay labor costs.

She hopes that, through the help of the loan, she will be able to provide everyone in her family with a suitable place to live and comfortable living conditions. She aims to purchase more land for agriculture purposes and open a small grocery store to earn additional income. Sarun sends thanks to all lenders who have contributed their funds to help poor people like her.
