Alma's story

Alma is from Baybay, Leyte. She is 47 years old and married and has three children. To earn an income, she runs a sari-sari (variety) store, selling basic commodities. She has been in this business for many years. Meanwhile, her husband works as a driver to provide for their family’s need.

Now, she asks for a loan of PHP 20,000 through Kiva’s field partner CEVI (a microfinance NGO) in the Philippines, which she will use to buy groceries for her store like rice, canned goods, noodles, snack foods, drinks and toiletries.

Alma wants to augment their livelihood in the future for a better means of living.
