Iye's Female Farmers Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to pay for improved seeds, organic inputs, and tractor rental.

Iye's Female Farmers Group's story

Iye K, the first person on the left side of the photo, is the featured borrower of Iye's Female Farmers Group. She would like to sincerely thank all of the Kiva lenders for their previous loans that enabled them to break free from the local moneylenders who were charging them nearly 100% interest. As a result, all of the group members have fully recovered their businesses. They also expanded their farming operations and created a support fund to cover the cost of school fees and supplies for their children.

Sierra Leone is currently experiencing a difficult time economically, with rising fuel and imported rice prices due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has caused food shortages in some areas. The group would like to take advantage of this and increase their production further as rice prices are on the rise. Increasing production will greatly enhance their livelihoods and also increase food access in Sierra Leone at a time when it is badly needed.

For this reason, the group is requesting their third loan to expand production, grow their businesses, and increase local food security.
