A loan helped to buy farm inputs such as high-quality fertilizers to improve her crop yields.

Janet's story

Meet Janet, a 27-year-old mother of two children who attend school. She is a mixed dairy and crop farmer who works with a lot of enthusiasm. Ever since she started farming, she has made tremendous improvements for her family.

Access to modern quality farm inputs is the pillar of the agricultural revolution. However, in Kenya, a developing country, fertilizer and seed allocation by the government is way below the needs of farmers. Ever since Juhudi Kilimo, a partner of Kiva, ventured into the affairs of smallholder farmers in Kenya, farmers attest that there has been a significant improvement in the availability of inputs.

Janet is seeking this loan to buy farm inputs such as high-quality fertilizers to improve her crop yields. She aims to generate more income and improve the quality of life for her family. The returns from this investment will change both her life and that of her entire household, because she will use the additional income to raise their standard of living and pay for her children's education.

Janet thanks her lenders for their generous support.
