A loan helped to build a safe latrine at home.

Phon's story

Phon, aged 35, is an experienced construction worker from a rural village of Bakan district, Pursat province. She was born in a poor family, and her parents could not provide good education to her because of insufficient income.

She has been doing the construction business for more than three years and also works as a paid laborer for additional income. She has a common-law relationship with her spouse, who is a loving father of two children. With her hard effort, Phon can earn approximately USD 6 per day, which will have to cover expenses for daily meals, clothes, medicine, and for other necessary needs.

Currently, her house doesn't have a safe latrine, so she cannot provide a sanitary latrine to her family members. She is requesting a loan to build a safe latrine at home. In this way, she hopes to increase the value of her home and improve sanitation, ensuring healthy living conditions to safeguard the health of her family and protect the environment. With the support of this loan, she will be able to purchase construction supplies such as bricks and cement to build a safe latrine and pay for labor costs. She believes that through her hard work and perseverance, she will be able to attain a better standard of living someday.
