Andrew's story

Andrew, who is 29 years of age and married, with two children, lives in a rural town in Plateau, Nigeria. He lives in a small community where maize farming is the major occupation and means of livelihood. Due to the lack of access to quality seeds, it has become difficult for farmers to achieve high yields to make a higher income.

Andrew is requesting a loan to buy high-quality seeds, fertilizers, and other essential inputs for his maize farming operations. Andrew wants to double last year's yield so that he can attract more customers, thereby increasing his revenue. At the end of the season, Andrew plans to use the profits he earns from his harvest to pay his children's school fees and enhance their standard of living. Andrew looks forward to living in an improved house and to many more abundant harvests. He believes that continuing to work with Babban Gona, will help him earn up to three times in net income, compared to the national average, from selling his maize to premium buyers. Through his loans, Andrew feels more empowered to expand his maize farming operations, thereby becoming a successful farmer.
