A loan helped purchase a new fiber laser with full training to grow my business and provide local employment.
Hello, my name is Tim. I am a father, a disabled vet, and a small business owner. I started Heritage Custom Engraving after a car accident in October of 2019, leaving me with permanent spine and nerve damage. The accident ended my career in construction and I had to find a new way to support myself and my family that wouldn't cause more damage to my spine. For generations, my family history is filled with creative people. The most influential on me were my parents. They were both very talented in their own rights and both loved turning something old and forgotten into something new and exciting. My father, a military man from a military family, could draw, design and build or fix almost anything. I lovingly blame him for my obsession with all things mechanical. My mother could paint and create anything out of fabric. From the clothes, we wore as children, to our Halloween costumes, to the stuffed animals we held onto in bed at night. She showed me creativity and that from humble, plain beginnings, something beautiful can be made. I was fortunate that they encouraged my creativity and my enthusiasm. I chose the name Heritage for my company to honor my parents and the long line of craftsmen in my family. I have always been an artist and a builder. It started when I was just a child drawing dinosaurs and dragons, trying to bring my imagination to life on paper. It continued thru my teens and my skills continued to grow into painting, carving, and building with natural elements like stone and wood. At 13 years old I started restoring my first old car. It was a 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner and I haven't stopped building, restoring, fixing, or modifying nearly everything I own since then. Whether I was building homes, designing and building stone walls and patios, restoring and modifying cars and trucks, painting murals for businesses, or creating the hundreds of handmade gifts and items for people during my lifetime - I have always been the happiest and most successful using my imagination and my hands to create things that bring joy and happiness to other people.
